Seven new 26-tonne vehicles are to be ordered as part of a wider fleet replacement programme designed to make dramatic improvements to waste management.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: ‘This major investment will improve collections for the 72,000 homes and 1,200 business which have their bins collected each week.

‘We are continually driving efficiencies into all that we do to manage waste. Having an ultra-modern fleet of vehicles will help reduce waste, pollution, minimise carbon emissions and conserve natural resources.

‘By introducing these new vehicles – complete with modern technology – the council can collect waste more quickly and more cleanly, reducing traffic and improving air quality.’

The new vehicles, as well as being more reliable and more fuel efficient, are more durable, resulting in significantly reduced maintenance costs and improved longevity.
