There is no denying that the past few years have been incredibly challenging for many businesses. From the impact of COVID-19 and Brexit to the supply chain issues, which were only exacerbated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It has been a complex environment for companies to operate in.

However, 2022 has been an incredibly strong year for Dawsongroup emc. From our re-name earlier this year, to the ongoing expansion of our fleet portfolio, we have celebrated many milestones over the past 12-months, whilst keeping our customers safe and on the road.

We started the year with alternative fuels front of mind. With transport accounting for 24% of all UK greenhouse gas emissions, and the red diesel ban coming into force in 2022, it was vital for us to expand our fleet with a range of electric vehicles, to support customers looking for greener alternatives.

This commitment saw us launch our first range of zero emission electric road sweepers. The multi-million-pound investment saw the addition of the Lynx Charge compact sweeper and the Bucher MaxPowa V65e truck mounted sweeper to our fleet. Both vehicles boast significant green credentials, without compromising on a first-class performance. Since then, we have added the eWhale 18T medium volume tanker to our electric fleet, with plans to expand further in the future.

2022 also saw further diversification of our ever-growing fleet. As we expanded into new markets, we added the most innovative vehicles. From our suction excavator launch, which featured the first RSP suction excavator on a Volvo FMX chassis, to our state-of-the-art L-cab MVC’s, we remained committed to bringing the most prestigious machines to a wide range of industries.

It was this fleet diversification that led us to our recent name change – Dawsongroup emc.

Since Dawsongroup acquired the sweeper business in 2005, we have worked hard to secure the position as the UK’s number one supplier of premium municipal vehicles. But it’s safe to say that we have grown beyond our roots.

Today, we offer a prestigious fleet of municipal, industrial and specialist vehicles to public and private sector companies. Our extensive range includes sweepers, tipper grabs, gully tankers, RCVs, Hotboxes, tippers and caged tippers, suction excavators, and hook loaders.

As we gear up to expand even further in 2023, with new launches in the pipeline, we were delighted to unveil our new name, which we feel perfectly reflects our growth story so far, and where we are going in the very near future.

Speaking of new launches, one of the highlights of 2022 has to be our deal with JCB, to bring their cutting-edge Pothole Pro machine to our customers. We are extremely proud to have been chosen by JCB as their only contract hire provider for this innovative vehicle.

The highly productive JCB Pothole Pro fixes potholes permanently, first time, without the need for labour intensive repair methods or additional expensive machinery. The vehicle will play a vital role in tackling Britain’s nine-year backlog of road repairs.

The Pothole Pro, which is capable of repairing a pothole four times quicker than traditional methods, is now being rolled out on contract hire to local authorities and contractors across the country.

As we look forward to 2023, market conditions remain challenging for many. For the fleet sector, the supply and demand issues, driven by the pandemic, Brexit and rising costs, look set to impact businesses across the UK.

However, due to the buying power of the Dawsongroup and our forward planning process, we can purchase bulk amounts of stock, so we are ready and waiting to support new and existing customers.

This gives our clients the pick of the most prestigious specialist vehicles on the market, even when other providers are struggling with vehicle availability. This flexibility means that we can fit around their requirements, to ensure we are always meeting their needs at any given time.

Particularly in these uncertain times, contract hire will remain a valuable option for fleet managers. It enables them to protect their capital and increase margins by avoiding the initial outlay of investing in a depreciating asset. They can benefit from regular monthly payments that keep them operational and, on the road, whilst protecting their budgets.
