Truckman launches hardtops for new Hilux models

Published:  04 July, 2017

Truckman, the manufacturer and distributor of hardtops and 4x4 accessories, has expanded its Utility hardtop range with British-built models for the new generation Toyota Hilux Double Cab and Extra Cab.

Designed and built in the West Midlands, the Utility hardtop converts the Hilux truck bed into a mobile workshop and stores designed for field-based engineers undertaking off-highway activities in sectors such as gas, electricity, water, track side and telecommunications.

They create a large space for racking, which is accessible through a secure rear door and gull-wing side doors.

With no requirement to remove the ladder rack / bulkhead window guard on the Hilux Active model, the Utility hardtop is strong and can carry equipment with a static weight of 100kg when fitted with roof bars.

The Utility hardtop has a built-in electrical conduit to allow vehicle converters to install additional lights, alarms and electrical systems. It is also simple to maintain, with its gel white, high-gloss finish and wash-clean interior. If required, the tops can be painted to the vehicle colour.

Mike Wheeler, executive chairman at Truckman, said: ‘The ability to not only transport kit and equipment to remote locations but also to operate a mobile workshop and stores has become a real advantage to industry.

‘The new models for the Mk8 Double Cab and Extra Cab Hilux are the latest in a line of innovative, British-designed and built Truckman hardtops, which have revolutionised the way pick-up trucks are utilised in a wide-cross section of industries.

‘We have invested in consistently developing new design and production capabilities to ensure the hardtops we produce meet and exceed the challenges of tough working environments, which is reflected in the robust and secure Truckman Utility hardtop.’
