Sussex-based Reef Environmental is launching its own recycling and waste collection service to businesses across Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

Reef, which currently specialises in confidential waste disposal, will collect materials such as cardboard and paper separately, to avoid cross contamination and optimise recycling. The company has purchased a brand-new refuse truck from Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd (RVS) to facilitate the new service.

Reef Environmental director Paul Mintern, who has worked in the waste management industry for more than 30 years, said: 'We are a total waste management company and decided that, in order to provide the highest levels of customer service, we should introduce our own commercial collection service.

'We've had on-board weighing equipment fitted to the vehicle which means that our customers only pay for what they dispose of allowing us to offer a very competitive service'

The refuse truck is a Euro 6 6x2 DAF, Dennis Olympus fitted with a Beta Trade Lift and the Enviroweigh Pay-by-Weight bin weighing system from VWS. Reef has taken the vehicle, an RVS RediTruck, on a five-year contract hire agreement from RVS with full repair and maintenance included.

Paul added: 'It's good to know that we have back up if the vehicle breaks down. Should anything happen RVS will provide us with a hire vehicle within 24 hours, at no additional cost to us. It's a huge comfort factor to have RVS behind us and allows me to get on with looking after the business. I'm very impressed with their approach and customer focus; there's no pressure-selling and they are a friendly, family business like us'
