Twelve Dennis Eagle RCVs with Terberg lifts have been delivered to Veolia for its domestic waste and recycling collections for Telford & Wrekin Council.

The order consists of 11 Elite 6 chassis with Olympus 23 bodies and Terberg OmniDEL Electric bin lifts and an Olympus Mini RCV for collections from locations with restricted access, such as narrow country lanes. A further six vehicles were ordered at the same time for Veolia"s operation in Stafford.

As part of a rolling programme to keep the Telford & Wrekin operation running smoothly and efficiently, the new vehicles join an existing fleet of Dennis Eagle and Terberg vehicles purchased five years ago.

The low-entry Elite 6 chassis has recently been independently tested for Transport for London"s new Direct Vision Standard safety initiative and shown to provide drivers with the best direct vision of any of the most widely used heavy goods vehicles on the UK"s roads.

"The growing reputation of the vehicle for safety for its driver, crew and especially vulnerable road users is making the Elite 6 an increasingly popular choice outside of the waste and recycling industry. But, when combined with the Olympus body, its efficiency and reliability have made it the best-selling RCV in the UK," said Lee Rowland, marketing manager for Dennis Eagle.

"And the Terberg OmniDEL Electric lift has been proven to further increase the vehicle"s efficiency by reducing fuel consumption as well as providing the environmental benefit of much quieter operation and reduced exhaust emissions"

Mark Hunter, Veolia"s Operations Manager, said: "We"ve been running a fleet of these particular vehicles for the last five years and have been perfectly happy with them and with the service we get from both Dennis Eagle and Terberg.

"They"re popular with the crews too, so when the time came to bring in the next wave of vehicles they were the obvious choice"
