Tevo can rack it

Tevo designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of invehicle storage and workshop systems for mobile operations.

Regardless of the fleet size or vehicle types within each fleet, the modular style of racking enables the company to produce a solution that suits the particular mobile application.

“As the Tevo product range is modular we can literally create a solution from the most basic of shelving systems through to a bespoke workshop that has a compartment for everything,” says marketing manager Rachel Rice.

Obviously, practicality of everyday use of the vehicle and the available budget are always important factors when discussing workshop design options with customers, she continues.

Workshop set ups with designated working and storage are common in larger vehicles operated within the LA sector. Here the load area generally allows for a full workbench with tool boards, vice unit and a range of shelving and drawer combinations to be installed.

“Sometimes a health & safety ‘clean station' may be requested where we can close off an area, usually within the side door access, and install hot water hand wash units, first aid facilities, lockers for storing hi-visibility clothing and fire extinguishers.”

Vehicles that are operated around the clock can be fitted with onboard power and heating systems for the comfort of the operator as well as additional external lighting options and security devices.

In smaller vehicles the slide-out solutions are very popular as they provide useful storage space yet leave floor area free for bulky items. The added benefit of slide-out storage from a health & safety perspective is there is no need to climb inside the vehicle to access tools and equipment, reducing the risk of work related accidents.

Tevo now offers an extra long drawer unit that can be placed under a false floor, providing useful stowage for tools. As security is always an important aspect of mobile workshops these ‘hidden' drawers store items well out of view protecting from potential theft risks and work well when combined with the slide out units to maximise storage space in compact vans.

“Duty of care is becoming a very important issue so this will be an avenue that we will spend more time on investigating i.e. product testing through crash testing programmes, driver and user safety, systems ergonomics, using recyclable products and further innovation on product design and installation methods,” concludes Rachel.
