A Barnsley-based company specialising in the eradication of Japanese knotweed has recently taken delivery of an Avant 745 compact tool carrier to tackle a wide variety of tasks.

Nimrod Environmental spends approximately 60% of its time tackling invasive weeds on a nationwide basis using a variety of methods from chemical treatment to complete excavation and removal to landfill.

This work is carried out at domestic properties and on behalf of developers, local authorities and rail companies.

Nimrod Environmental's founder Daniel Kaye said: 'I was looking for a yard machine that could also be easily towed to sites behind our truck and the 745 model offered the best combination of compact size, traction and overall performance to suit the services we offer.'

The 745 model Avant was supplied by Avant dealer Britcom of Market Weighton with three buckets, a flail mower, tree shear and a set of pallet forks.

The 1400kg lift capacity is powered by a Kubota 4-cylinder diesel engine developing 36 kW (49 hp), driving through an hydrostatic transmission which provides a top speed of 15 km/h. The all-wheel drive, articulated machine is just 1350 mm wide and features a telescopic boom and self-levelling system as standard.

'The Avant is doing great things and I'm really impressed with how it deals with everything we throw at it on a daily basis,' said Mr Kaye.
