Sedgemoor District Council has added a Shibaura CM374 compact tractor to its fleet.

Transport supervisor Bob Kondys said: 'We have had Shibaura as a part of our groundcare machinery team in the past and when we needed to replace one of our older tractors the tender process highlighted the CM374 as the most cost-effective and best value option for our purposes.

'Our cutting season can run from February to October so our machines work hard right across our areas, cutting amenity grass, which includes some slope work, for both district and county councils. In addition we also work for the Housing Authority.'

Simon Richard, the UK Sales Agent for the Shibaura range, said: 'The 36hp CM374 is fully compliant with all EU and US emission controls and is rated as safe for working at up to 20o slopes.

'It is the perfect smaller tractor for cash strapped councils as it can be used year round across their grounds maintenance remits. It can save on manpower in areas that are difficult to maintain and also addresses operator safety concerns.

'Shibaura manufacture 60' and 72' 3 blade side discharge decks which can be converted to rear. There is also an excellent 600L high-tip collection system available and other options include cab, flail mower, brush and snow plough.'
