Recycling company streamlines with new software

Published:  05 October, 2015

Equinox Recycling, a waste and recycling company in Kent, report they are saving time and money since switching its systems over to VWS PurGo, a software package designed specifically for waste and recycling operators.

VWS PurGo is a simplified software solution based around streamlining processes from sales through to operations such as route scheduling, admin, billing and reporting.

Andy Gibbons, Managing Director at Equinox Recycling, said: ‘The VWS PurGo system is very intuitive and easy to use, like an iphone, and is helping us to streamline every aspect of our operations. We used to use a very well known but very complicated system.

'It enabled us to do everything but just took too long to do it and required a lot of training to grasp. Since using VWS PurGo we haven't required any training at all although we have used the telephone support service, which has been fantastic.'

VWS PurGo uses technology such as in-cab PDAs to schedule work and capture data. It can link on-board systems such as bin- weighing, CCTV systems, telematics/CANbus and has a web-portal and smartphone app for billing and reporting.

It also integrates well with back office sales and accounting packages such as Salesforce, Sage and Coda. VWS PurGo customers pay a monthly subscription for use of the software, which includes a support service should they need it.

Until now Equinox had always employed external suppliers to provide accounting services but since VWS PurGo has been installed the company has brought all of its functions back in-house.

‘VWS PurGo has made such a positive difference to our business. For the first time ever we are doing our invoicing in-house, instead of employing another company to do it.We can monitor each customer's load much more effectively, charge accordingly and keep better track of direct debits, which is helping us to sustain a more profitable business.'

Julian Glasspole, Managing Director, VWS said: 'VWS PurGo is a simplified solution and although we work with all the major established software providers, we recognise that waste collectors often want an easier to use, bespoke solution that takes care of their needs from beginning to end, which is where VWS Software Solutions fits in.'
