Wrightbus has sold 20 new Streetlite buses to Midlands-based bus company Rotala which operates both commercial bus and contracted services for local authorities.

They will be delivered in two tranches of 10 between December 2015 and May 2016 to replace existing vehicles within its fleet.

The first 10 vehicles will be 10.8m, door-forward versions with Cummins Euro 5 engines which will also feature Wrightbus's own Micro Hybrid technology.

Two will be used in Atherton and will carry Diamond Bus livery, each with 41 seats and a maximum passenger capacity of 70. The remaining eight will operate from the Redditch depot and will have a different interior configuration to provide 40 seats and additional space for luggage and wheelchair capacity.

The second batch of 10 Streetlites will also be 10.8m, door-forward models but will include the Daimler Euro 6 engine with Micro Hybrid version 2 technology.

Ian Downie, Managing Director - Sales & Customcare for Wrightbus, said: 'Our Streetlite range is going from strength to strength and is gaining a reputation for its performance and fuel economy with operators the length and breadth of the UK.

'Rotala Plc is an established customer of Wrightbus and we're pleased to be working with them again to supply the Streetlite and meet their needs. This latest order will round off what has been a very successful year for us, while also getting 2016 off to a great start.'

Simon Dunn, Chief Executive for Rotala Plc, said: 'We chose the Wrightbus Streetlite because of its suitability for regular bus routes, flexibility and its excellent fuel consumption.'
