Boschung has developed a new sweeper to cope with smaller public spaces, increasing time pressures and heavier traffic.

The Urban-Sweeper S2 is a lightweight vehicle with a curb weight of only 2,300kg - 1,000kg lighter than comparable sweepers - but a productive payload of up to 1,500kg.

With a width of just 1.15m, its articulated steering and the oscillating suspension between front and rear frames make it highly manoeuvrable so it can easily negotiate the street furniture and narrow spaces of pavements, precincts and parks.

Fleet managers are continually challenged to improve environmental performance and efficiency when procuring new sweepers. The Urban-Sweeper S2's VW TDI 2.0 diesel engine, with 75kW (102HP), is tuned for 62kW (84 HP) at 2,200rpm to deliver fuel savings and consequently lower CO2 emissions.

The Urban-Sweeper is equipped with a water recycling system in which a190 litre fresh water tank is supplemented by an additional 150 litre recycling water tank.

To create the opportunity year-round use, Boschung has fitted the Urban-Sweeper S2 with winter equipment, including a front-mounted brush and plough and rear-mounted salt or grit spreaders.
