Julian Glasspole, Managing Director of Vehicle Weighing Solutions (VWS) and Applied Weighing (AW) has been awarded the title of Industry Leader Of the Year 2015 by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).

Julian, who was chosen for his business flair, strong work ethic and commitment to the industry, said: 'It was a huge honour to be shortlisted alongside such high calibre contenders and I am over the moon to have been selected as the winner. 2015 has been an amazing year and this award is really down to the hard work and dedication of the whole team at Vehicle Weighing Solutions and Applied Weighing.'

The winners of the 9th annual CIWM Sustainability and Resource Awards were announced at a ceremony hosted by Nick Hewer, presenter of Countdown and Alan Sugar's former right-hand man on The Apprentice, at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square on Friday 6 November. The others shortlisted for the Industry Leader of the Year award included Liz Goodwin OBE, Ray Georgeson MBE and Dr Stephen Jenkinson.

In its awards prospectus the CIWM said of Julian: 'He prides himself on treating each customer as an individual, producing bespoke systems designed to be exactly what the customer needs. His strong and dedicated work ethic, his friendly manner and his business know-how makes him a fantastic leader and his launch of the new VWS PurGo software shows how much he understands the industry and is dedicated to improving it.'
