Harnessflex has launched its new high temperature range of conduit and fittings for the automotive market.

The company says rising engine temperatures linked to increasing efficiency of engines could risk damaging cables left unprotected.

Their high temperature solution is designed to operate at temperatures up to 200°C and has been tested for long-term heat aging, tensile and impact strength to ensure the range is fit for purpose.

Lee Callegari, global business development director at Harnessflex, said: 'Global regulations, such as Euro 6, USA10, and Tier 4 for off-highway heavy duty vehicles, have required manufacturers reduce emission levels.

'This required reduction, along with changes to engine design to improve safety and reduce noise, has resulted in higher engine temperatures and led the automotive industry to actively look for a complete and effective solution to protect the wiring and connectors in their engines. We believe our new High Temperature range more than fulfils this need.

'It has been created by a specialist team with vast engineering, R&D, and industry experience, backed by the support of leading global in-house manufacturing capabilities and a global supply chain.'

With thermal index temperatures tested in accordance with IEC 60216, the Harnessflex High Temperature range increases the temperature rating by more than 60% over standard fittings. Made from specialist polyamide and polyester materials, the range includes NC08 - NC20 conduit, with respective T and Y-Pieces, straight and elbow joiners, along with connectors for AMP, Bosch, Deutsch and FCI.
