A mini excavator is being hired out by Goucestershire-based Rocket Rentals to raise money for the charity Prostate Cancer UK.

The idea is the initiative of Rocket Rentals director Simon Tomblin and the machine has been bought in memory of his close friend and godfather Brian Smith, who was Director at Bison Plant Hire but who recently lost his battle with prostate cancer.

The limited edition Kubota KX057-4 was supplied by Chepstow Construction Equipment, who painted the special machine blue and kitted it with transport, PDI, radio, beacon, cesar registration and quick release couplings, all free of charge.

Attachments specialist Whites Material Handling supplied a quick hitch and a set of buckets ' also free of charge ' and Kubota commissioned the painting of the excavator in blue at no extra cost.

Trakm8 provided the machine with its telematics tracking device and Kubota Finance helped to put a workable finance package together.

Rockets Rentals will donate all the profit of the vehicle's hire to the charity. In addition, the suppliers and customers who hire the machine will have their names permanently marked on the outside of the digger to mark their contribution to the cause.

Simon said: 'We are thrilled to be hiring out the one-of-a-kind blue Kubota excavator and donating a portion of each hire to the Prostate Cancer UK Charity. We are very grateful to the kind people at Chepstow, alongside Kubota, Whites Materials Handling, Trakm8 and Kubota Finance for their support in making this limited edition excavator possible, but also for acknowledging the importance of the occasion'
