Vehicle weighing company Weightru bought by new partnership

The vehicle weighing specialist Weightru Ltd has been bought by a newly formed partnership and will be independently run with the financial and technical backing of MWS Ltd.

Stourbridge-based Weightru, which manufactures a range of vehicle weighing equipment and offers calibration services, was set up 35 years ago and is now one of the largest portable weigh pad suppliers in Europe and has ISO 9001 accreditation for full calibration traceability.

The business is now moving to the MWS facility at Birtsall, near Leicester, which the new owners say has better manufacturing and testing facilities.

MWS has been designing and manufacturing industrial weighing systems since 1994. Andrew Clarke, commercial director of MWS and now a co-owner and managing director of Weightru, said: ‘When we were first approached to buy Weightru we looked at the business and saw unrealised potential on several fronts.

‘We look forward to investing in Weightru and building out the company’s capabilities, with the vision to develop the business into a leading player in the vehicle weighing industry. Having recently secured commitments from several key accounts, the retention of our clients is at the forefront of my mind, and the improvements we have planned will go a long way in achieving this.’
